Substitutions
You may get stuck trying to make your favorite recipe not having the proper ingredients. Try these subsitutions to get you through until the next time to the store.
1 cup Self Rising Flour = 1 cup all purpose flour + 1/2 tsp Watkins baking powder + 1/2 tsp salt
1 cup granulated sugar = 1 cup brown sugar firmly packed
1 cup buttermilk = 1 tblsp lemon juice or vinegar + enough milk to make 1 cup
1 cup buttermilk or sour cream = 1 cup of yogurt
1 cup skimmed milk = 3 tblsp skimmed milk powder + 1 cup water
1 cup cream = 3/4 cup milk + 1/4 cup butter
1 oz Chocolate ( 1 square) = 3 tblsp Watkins cocoa + 1 tblsp shortening
1 cup meat stock or broth = 1 tblsp Watkins soup base + 1 cup water -- add more or less to taste.
